What is Exercise Physiology?

Group2_edited.jpg

Exercise Physiologists are experts in the effects of exercise on the human body.

Exercise Physiologists are university qualified health professionals with extensive knowledge of the human body and the effects of exercise. An accredited Exercise Physiologist provides clinical exercise interventions to rehabilitate injuries and manage chronic disease, pain and disability for improved function and quality of life.

Who is Exercise Physiology for?

Exercise Physiology services are suitable for all ages and abilities. An Exercise Physiologist may provide exercise interventions for individuals living with chronic illness and injury, including musculoskeletal, metabolic, cardiovascular, neurological and mental health conditions.

What does a standard Exercise Physiology session look like?

Exercise Physiologists at Barwon Sports Physio use evidence based research to inform Musculoskeletal assessment and exercise interventions to improve function of individuals affected by health conditions such as injury, illness, disability or movement dysfunction.

Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists will take you through a thorough assessment to better understand your condition, lifestyle and how exercise can help you reach your goals. From there we guide you an individual treatment plan, working together to improve function, confidence and quality of life.

Where required, we may recommend referrals to other health professionals to ensure all symptoms are suitably treated, this may include a General Practitioner, Physiotherapist, Sports Doctor, Podiatrist, Dietician or Psychologist.
